Colonels’ Battalion Commissioning Ceremony for fall 2009

The Colonels’ Battalion Commissioning Ceremony for fall 2009 was the culminating event for seven who arrived as Cadets and left with the honor of 2nd Lieutenant.

ROTC Alumni, Vets Honored

EKU military veterans and fallen heroes were honored at the annual memorial and tribute service held on November 14. ROTC cadets presented the Colors in a solemn salute held at the EKU Veteran’s Memorial. Several alumni returned to campus for the event and later spent time with the Cadet Corps.

MSL selects Heltzel as 2009 distinguished alum

EKU's Department of Military Science and Leadership is pleased to announce that Brigadier General John W. Heltzel has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2009.

General Heltzel was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 3, 2009, at the annual College of Business and Technology Professional Skills Conference senior recognition luncheon.

Ranger Challenge Team Competes

Colonels Battalion Ranger Challenge team

The Colonels Battalion Ranger Challenge team competed last fall at Ft. Knox against 30 other teams from around the region. In a mentally and physically challenging series of events, EKU ROTC is very proud of a 7th place showing from a young team.

EKU's Department of Military Science and Leadership is pleased to announce that Col. Donald A. Bartholomew has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2008.

Col. Bartholomew was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 4, 2008, at the annual College of Business and Technology Professional Skills Conference senior recognition luncheon.

EKU Army ROTC Shines at Pershing Rifle Championship

The EKU Pershing Rifles won several awards at the Pershing Rifle National Competition held recently in Daytona Beach.

Group awards included first place in the Platoon Regulation Drill and third place in the Squad Regulation Drill, led by Stacy Lonas.

Robby Rees won second place in the Individual Drill Competition, beating more than 100 competitors.

ROTC Cadets Take National Honors

EKU’s ROTC Cadets brought home accolades once again. At the Leaders Development Assessment Course 2007 in Fort Lewis, Va., EKU Cadets competed and won out against much larger universities, such as the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, and The Ohio State University, just to name a few.

Eastern Kentucky University’s Army ROTC Program ranked among the nation’s best in the 2007 Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC), a five-week training event conducted recently at Fort Lewis, Wash.
