Winter 2020 EKU ROTC Commissioning Ceremony

Thursday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. LTC Jerimiah J. Corbin, Professor of Military Science, Commissioned three EKU ROTC Cadets. In this virtual ceremony in the presence of EKU staff and alumni, classmates, family and friends, they swore an oath to office.

LTG James Rainey Veteran Recognition Weekend

LTG James Rainey, Commanding General of the Combined Arms Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, visited the campus of EKU, November 6th and 7th 2020,  to celebrate veterans. LTG Rainey is an EKU and EKU ROTC alum. He was accompanied to campus by his wife, Tracy, also an EKU alum.

2020 Veteran's Day Memorial Ceremony

Eastern Kentucky University celebrated Veteran's Day on Wednesday, November 11th, 2020 to honor the men and women who have served and are currently serving our county. The cadet lead ceremony was held in the Weaver Building which is the new location of EKU Army ROTC.



The Colonel's Battalion conducted a field training exercise at the Harold L. Disney Training Center in Artemus Kentucky from 25 to 27 September 2020. Cadets received in depth training on field craft, squad tactics, and day and night land navigation.

On September 10, 2020 the Eastern Kentucky Colonel's Battalion welcomed 10 new contracted cadets. Upon the oath to the U.S. Army and Cadet Command, the new cadets received scholarships to help alleviate the stress of college funding.

Fall Commissioning Second Lieutenant Crystal Pettit

EKU ROTC Fall Commissioning

As of September 9th, 2020, EKU and Colonel's Battalion Alum Crystal Pettit, has officially taken her oath to continue on her military path as Second Lieutenant Pettit. 2LT Pettit was pinned by her husband 2LT James Pettit. Her first salute was given by SFC (R) Rob Roane.

Congratulations 2020 Eastern Kentucky University Military Science and Leadership Army ROTC graduates! Thursday, May 7th, EKU ROTC held its first virtual ceremony to commission 8 cadets as 2nd Lieutenants.

Saturday, February 29th, EKU Colonels' Battalion hosted our first Open House in Weaver. Over 30 high school juniors and seniors joined us for a round robin of informational classes, campus tours and lunch catered by McAlister's provided by the National Guard. We are looking forward to seeing these future Colonels in the Fall! #colonelspride

EKU ROTC conducted first Army Physical Fitness Training (APFT)


Eastern Kentucky University ROTC Colonels conducted their first Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) of the semester to measure their endurance, strength, and speed. At lab, our freshman learned how to move with the use of Individual Movement Techniques (IMTs). Our sophomores learned about packing a ruck and what to take to the field training exercises (FTX).

Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 the Colonels' Battalion and LTC Jerimiah Corbin presented Denise Harris and Magan Lewis with an "Honorary Colonels" Award. Mrs. Harris is the Manager of Space Plan Utilization  and Mrs. Lewis is the Manager of the Relocation Crew for Eastern Kentucky University.
