2020 Veteran's Day Memorial Ceremony
Eastern Kentucky University celebrated Veteran's Day on Wednesday, November 11th, 2020 to honor the men and women who have served and are currently serving our county. The cadet lead ceremony was held in the Weaver Building which is the new location of EKU Army ROTC.
COL Scott Thomas, who serves as the Deputy United States Property and Fiscal Officer for the Kentucky Army National Guard, was the guest speaker and spoke on the importance of honoring veterans. COL Thomas said, "It's not always an easy job, but today in our all-volunteer military, it is made up of those who choose to serve a cause greater than themselves knowing they could at any moment be put in harms way. They deserve our eternal graditute for their selfless act of service."
LTC Jerimiah Corbin, EKU President David McFaddin and Congressman Andy Barr also spoke during the ceremony. Along with cadre and cadets, two distinguished alumni; Richmond's Mayor, Robert Blythe and College of Business and Technology dean, Thomas Erekson, were also in attendance.
