Local High School Students Spend the Day with ROTC

High school students wait in line beneath the rappel tower

A group of Madison Central High School students were invited to spend the day with EKU ROTC on Thursday, April 19. Most the students were athletes from various teams, including volleyball, wrestling, football, and softball, among others.

The weather was nearly perfect in the afternoon when students were bussed out to the ROTC obstacle course and rappel tower, where each other them had the opportunity to try out rappelling and various obstacles. The rappel tower has been recently updated and reintroduced into the ROTC training regimen.

"It really builds confidence," Lt. Col. Jerimiah Corbin said. "The students learn to trust each other and trust the equipment."

It was a great opportunity for local high school students to experience a day in the life of EKU ROTC. While some of them were visibly nervous as they descended from the top of the tower, they all participated and made their way down, with help and encouragement from the ROTC Cadets.
