EKU Pershing Rifles to host Junior ROTC Competition

The annual Eastern Kentucky University Army Pershing Rifles ROTC Drill Meet will attract Junior ROTC units from throughout eastern Kentucky and eastern Tennessee to the Richmond campus on Saturday, Feb. 21.

After an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m., competition begins at 9 a.m. in the Weaver Gymnasium.

EKU Colonel's Battalion hosts 2014 Cadet Stakes

On September 27, 2014, EKU Army ROTC Colonels Battalion hosted the Annual JROTC Cadet Stakes.

Thirty-nine teams from 25 different high schools competed for top honors. Events included a modified physical fitness test, litter carry, boat race, one-rope bridge, and mystery event.

At the end of the weekend, Clarkrange High School emerged at this year's winner.

On Sept. 11 people from all over the world stopped to remember almost 3,000 people, who died 13 years ago in a terrorist attack that changed the nation forever. Many members of the Eastern community remembered 9/11 by attending a memorial ceremony at the Center of the Arts and climbing 110 flights of stairs in Keene Hall that evening.

Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of History has awarded its first Charles D. Whitlock Distinguished History Alumnus Awards to a highly esteemed Madison County schoolteacher and a tactical officer and instructor at West Point.

Fariello receives Dean's Award

Elizabeth Fariello has been selected to received the College of Education Dean's Award for Outstanding Achievement. The Award is given to an outstanding graduating senior in the College of Education who possesses a high total grade point average as well as exhibits strong leadership skills, outstanding character, and service.
