SSG Lawson is a wife, mother of 3 children and actively involved in local community services. She is a first-generation college graduate and a first-generation military service member. She joined the Active Duty United States Marine Corp in 1993 and served over 8 years active duty. She then joined the Kentucky Army National Guard as a traditional Guardsman serving as a Military Police and Automated Logistic Specialist. SSG Lawson took a 13 year break in the service and rejoined the Kentucky Army National Guard in 2017 as a traditional Guardsman serving as an Equipment and Records Parts SGT. In June 2018, SSG Lawson became a recruiter and was assigned to EKU, her alumni university. Recruiting has allowed her to obtain her most rewarding career because she can give others the opportunity to establish their career goals, obtain their education debt free and serve our great State of Kentucky.
